Gary Boyd - Chief Executive Officer
The Southern Mono Healthcare District Board of Directors is happy to announce the appointment of the new Mammoth Hospital Chief Executive Officer; welcome Gary Boyd. "The Board of Directors and Senior Management team are delighted to have the most qualified candidate out of a large number of highly qualified applicants join the hospital team as Chief Executive Officer," says Dr. Don Sage, Chair, Southern Mono Healthcare District Board of Directors.
Gary recently moved from the Walnut Creek area to join the hospital team.
"I am very excited to be joining the Southern Mono Healthcare District and Mammoth Hospital team," says Gary. "My wife and I are looking forward to being a part of the community."

Before coming to Mammoth, Gary had been employed as the Senior Vice President for Clinical and Support Services since 2002. There he was one of three hospital administrators at each campus responsible for hospital operations which included ongoing leadership of the non-nursing clinical departments for the Hospital Division of John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek campus, and the John Muir Medical Center, Concord campus. In addition, he was also responsible for developing the capital budget for John Muir Health on an annual basis.
For the past thirty-two years, Gary has been involved in health care which also includes serving as the Chief Operations Officer for Brentwood Medical Center, a 110,000-square-foot ambulatory care facility, where he was responsible for completing construction and activation of the facility. Fourteen of those years, he was employed as a Radiological Technologist working his way up to a departmental manager position and then moving into administration at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla. He has worked in private practice, but prefers working in an acute care hospital environment. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco and a master’s degree from San Diego State University.
In his spare time, Gary enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing, working in his yard, and building things from wood. He also writes a column published regularly in a national professional journal. He has been married to his wife, Barbara, since 1975 and has two children. His daughter, Whitney, is a Physical Therapist who lives in Stockton and his son, Jordan, who lives in Sacramento, recently graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in Criminal Justice.
