What are Emergency Services?
The Mammoth Hospital Emergency Room is
open 24 hours a day for patients who need immediate medical attention.
We have specialized treatment facilities for both major and minor
emergencies, including up-to-date equipment, on-site radiology and
laboratory facilities. Mammoth Hospital also utilizes air ambulance
services to transport critically ill or injured patients. Patients
requiring non-emergency care are welcome to utilize the services of our
on-site family medicine clinic,
Sierra Park Family Medicine. The clinic is open six days a week.
Monday through Saturday, mornings from 9 am to 11:30 am and afternoons
from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Who will take care of me?
The Mammoth Hospital Emergency Services
team consists of Board Certified Emergency Physicians and Registered
Nurses, some of whom are M.I.C.N.s (Mobile Intensive Care Nurses). They
are specialists in emergency care, with the experience and training to
provide for the exceptional needs of emergency patients and their
families.
Our Board Certified Emergency
Physicians are on-call 24 hours a day, and our nursing staff is
available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This team works to meet the
patient's needs, as well as their families', coping with injury and
illness.
The emergency team is responsible for
the initial assessment of patients. They will also help you plan how to
follow the physician's orders before you leave.
What if I have to wait?
We make every effort to treat all
patients promptly, but you may need to wait if there are patients who
may be seriously ill or critically injured and require immediate
attention. Or, you might wait while we make a treatment room available
or consult with a specialist. Also, the staff may be waiting for your
lab test results or x-rays.
We will do our best to
keep your wait to a minimum, in the meantime, please be assured that we
are aware of your needs and are doing our best to take care of them.
What about the bill?
The information you provide at
registration will assist us in the billing process. If you have health
insurance, we will make every effort to bill your plan. Be sure to give
us as much information as possible.
If you have health insurance, are a
member of an HMO or are insured by a managed care insurance plan, you
should know the requirements of your plan. Certain stipulations or
exclusionary clauses may exist in your policy.
Emergency patients may receive more
than one bill for medical care rendered. Each patient will receive an
invoice for the hospital services including such items as lab tests,
medications or supplies used. In the
event that a specialist, such as a radiologist, surgeon,
anesthesiologist or orthopedic surgeon is required, a separate bill will
be coming from each of those disciplines utilized. Likewise, laboratory
work which is sent for testing to an outside lab would also generate a
separate invoice.
Visitor's Policy
We believe that in caring for our
patients, we care for their families as well. Having a family member or
loved one as a patient in the Emergency Department can be a difficult
and stressful experience. Though our first priority is the care and
comfort for our patients, we would like to make these next few hours as
easy for you as possible. Please help us meet your needs by adhering to
the following guidelines.
 |
· One
person may accompany the patient to the treatment area.
· Once the
patient is brought in to the treatment area, you may be asked to
return to the waiting area. After a reasonable amount of time, you
may check with the front desk. The clerk will let you know when you
may see the patient.
· Visitors
of patients who are treated in the trauma room will not initially
accompany the patient to the treatment area. The nurse will notify
you as to when you may see the patient. We will keep you informed of
the patient's progress.
|
· To
respect other patients' privacy, you are asked to remain in the
patient's cubicle while in the treatment area.
· Length
of visits will depend on the medical care and treatment needed by
the patients. This may limit the amount of visiting time. Visitors
must return to the waiting area immediately when asked to do so.
· Parents
may accompany their child to the treatment area. Children under the
age of 12 may not be left unattended in the waiting area, if at all
possible.
·
In the
interest of all our patients, visitors may be asked to leave the
Emergency Department if they do not comply with these rules.
