Mammoth Hospital & Sierra Park Clinics offer the services of interpreters to their patients. If you are a non-English, Limited English Proficient, deaf or hard of hearing patient, these services are available free of charge, in person or by telephone. The Interpretive Service Department is composed of qualified interpreters, in-house bilingual staff providers and over-the-phone interpreting services of Language Line available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
At your request, Mammoth Hospital & Sierra Park Clinics will arrange for you to have an interpreter available throughout your medical care, helping you communicate with your medical team, arrange follow-up visits, understand prescription medication instructions, and more.
Medical interpreting requires preparation and specialized training. Mammoth Hospitalís medical interpreters are committed to helping providers establish a direct relationship with their non-English or Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients through accurate and complete interpretation to increase value and successful outcomes. The California Standards for Healthcare Interpreters are followed, that are set forth by the California Healthcare Interpreting Association, as well as abiding by confidentiality policies and regulations set up by Mammoth Hospital.
Patients are encouraged to use the services of a qualified interpreter. Some of the risks in using friends or family members as an interpreter may include:
