Sierra Park Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Service
We understand what it
takes to meet the special needs of athletes of all ages and levels. Our
sports medicine team specializes in athletic injuries, arthroscopic
surgery, and fractures. We offer a wide array of medical services and
management for the following conditions:

Our Clinicians
Jack Perry, M.D.,
joined the Mammoth Hospital team in 2000. Dr. Perry received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan; in 1991, he graduated
summa cum laude from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed a specialty fellowship in athletic injuries, focusing on
shoulders and knees, and completed his surgical internship from the San
Diego Naval Medical Center. His tour of duty included Flight Surgeon
training in Pensacola, Florida, before being assigned for one year as the
Senior Medical Officer and Flight Surgeon at 29 Palms. During his four
years with the Navy, Dr. Perry worked as a family practitioner in the
emergency department. After completing his time with the Navy, he moved
to Hawaii to attend the University of Hawaii Orthopedic Residency
training program. He finished his fellowship training in sports medicine
with an emphasis in shoulder and knees at Duke University. Dr. Perry is
a team physician for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team. He is also a
designated physician faculty member for the University of Nevada School
of Medicine training medical students in trauma and sports medicine.
Mike Karch, M.D.,
joined the Sierra Park Orthopedics and Sports Medicine clinic in 2003. He received
his undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine where he was inducted to the
Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Karch completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the Georgetown University
Medical Center in Washington, D.C. following a general surgical internship at Loma Linda University Medical Center,
in Loma Linda, California. He then completed his orthopedic fellowship training in sports medicine at the
Taos Orthopedic Institute in Taos, New Mexico, where he specialized in advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder
and knee as well as the treatment of ski and snowboard trauma. Dr. Karch is a designat3ed physician faculty member for the
University of Nevada School of Medicine training medical students in orthopedic trauma and sports medicine. In
addition, he currently serves as a team physician for both the United States Ski and Snowboard Teams.
On September 11, 2001, Dr. Karch uniquely experienced both the Pentagon and World Trade Center terrorist attacks.
After triaging patients from the Pentagon disaster at Georgetown that fateful morning, he boarded a train for New York
City and became one of the first physicians on-site at Ground Zero. In addition to search and rescue, he helped establish
"Ground Zero MASH Unit West," an ad-hoc, on-site emergency unit. HE manned that post from September 11-14, 2001. He has
become a written authority on mass disaster medical triage.
Dr. Karch true passion in life is ultra-distance athletics. He has competed in over 50 regular-length marathons,
numerous 50-mile footraces and Ironman distance triathlons, and completed numerous 100-mile
ultra-marathons. He is a two time finisher
in the Badwater Ultramarathon, a 135-mile extreme footrace across Death Valley to Mount Whitney. In addition to ultra-distance running, he
enjoys competitive Nordic skiing, mountain bike racing, and whitewater kayaking. He is accompanied by his wife Kim Escudero, M.D.,
board-certified
pediatrician practicing at the Sierra Park Pediatric clinic. The couple resided in Mammoth Lakes and have a Mammoth-born daughter, Mia Rose.
Richard Price, M.D.,
joined the Sierra Park Orthopedics and Sports Medicine clinic as well as the Sierra Park Family Medicine clinic at Mammoth Hospital in 2004.
Dr. Price moved to Mammoth from Salt Lake City, Utah. He earned his bachelor's degree in science with an emphasis in biology from Colorado State University,
and completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Utah. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University. His area of focus is
family practice and non-operative sports and medicine and orthopedics. "I look forward to becoming a part of the community and building a long-term doctor/patient
relationship for years to come," says Dr. Price. He is accompanied by his wife Katie Price, M.D., a pediatrician at Sierra Park Pediatric Clinic.
