Mammoth Hospital is a provider for Medicare, Medi-Cal, California Children's Services, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and several other insurances.  We work closely with worker’s compensation companies to insure communication with the employer, case manager, physician, and patient for optimal recovery and return to function including work hardening and work-site ergonomic evaluations.  Our therapy center offers covered patient parking, a ground level state-of-the-art therapy pool with adjustable current and a built-in
treadmill, elevator access to the third floor therapy department, four private treatment rooms, a pediatric treatment room,a hydrotherapy room, changing areas, and a 2000 square-foot climate-controlled gym with large windows and beautiful views of Mammoth Mountain and the Sherwin Mountains.

On top of providing extensive Physical Therapy services to residents and visitors of the Mammoth Lakes area, Sierra Park Physical Therapy now offers an additional clinic located in Bishop open Monday through Friday.

Meet our dedicated staff...

Karilyn Myers, PT, MA, manages the rehabilitation services at Mammoth Hospital which include in-patient services in Mammoth and out-patient services in Mammoth and Bishop. She received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Stanford University. She has been a resident of Mammoth Lakes and has practiced physical therapy here since 1981. Karilyn is a California Children’s Services paneled therapist and is certified in lymphedema management. Karilyn serves on the Board of Directors of Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra.

Lorraine Koenig, PT, received her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy at Northeastern University in 1995. She has been working in Mammoth Lakes since 2000. Lorraine has taken advanced coursework in biomechanics of the foot and lower leg including orthotic therapy. Lorraine also has comprehensive training in Pilates and integrates this in her therapy practice. She has a special interest in Women’s Health patients.

Lance Georgeson, MPT, received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Puget Sound and has been working in Mammoth since 2000. Lance has taken advanced training in manual therapy and manipulation techniques for the spine and extremities. He has been a team physical therapist with the US Snowboard Team since 2004 and enjoys helping athletes of all ages achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Rachel Georgeson, PT, MS, received her Master’s degree from Pacific University. She has worked in Mammoth for more than 10 years. In her spare time, she enjoys raising her 2 children, biking, and cross country skiing. She is enjoys treating a variety of patient populations including cardiac, neurological, general medical conditions as well as orthopedic injuries. Rachel has taken advanced course work in manipulation, manual therapy and shoulder rehabilitation.

Sara Morra, MPT, CSCS received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Elon University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Florida. Sara has advanced training in balance and vestibular rehabilitation and experience in treatment of neurological and wound care patients. She has special interest in our performance lab, incorporating wellness, strength and conditioning in physical therapy. Sara also works as a team physical therapist for the U.S. Ski Team.

Gillian McChesney, PT, graduated from the University of Ulster in Ireland in 1988 and attained a bachelors of science with honors in Physical Therapy. She specialized in rehabilitation in the Scottish Spinal Cord Injuries Unit before moving to Mammoth in 1994. Her specialties include neurological rehabilitation for all ages and treatment of neck and back pain.

Ariel Wilbur, DPT, received her doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Utah in 2011. She received her bachelor’s degree from U.C. Santa Barbara in 2005 in Psychology with a double minor in Health and Exercise Science and Fitness Instruction with an emphasis in personal training. Originally from Mammoth, Ariel is an avid skier and snowboarder and enjoys helping her patients return to sport and recreation.

Tim Tollefson, PT, MS, CSCS, received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Sacramento State University and his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Chico State University. Tim is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has advanced experience in running biomechanics. He has worked with USATF, NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL athletes in performance enhancement, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Tim is also a competitive runner, with a personal best in the marathon of 2:18:26.

Gary Myers, PT, MA CSCS received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Stanford University. He travelled with the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Olympic Team in 1992 and has promoted a medical partnership between Mammoth Hospital and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams since then. He has over 30 years of experience in health care and has served the community of Mammoth Lakes since 1981. After practicing physical therapy for many years, Gary served as the CEO of Mammoth Hospital for 13 years and now has returned to patient care in physical therapy. He enjoys orthopedic physical therapy and has a special interest in cardiac rehabilitation and wellness. In 2011, Gary earned Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Ellen Obenberger, OT, is a licensed occupational therapist with specialty certification in hand therapy. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from USC. Ellen has over 25 years of experience in a variety of areas including hand therapy, pediatrics, ergonomics and work hardening, neurology, and orthopedics.

Lisa Gorlick, SLP, MS received her Master’s degree in speech and language pathology from Rush University. Lisa is an experienced speech pathologist with extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of adults with speech-language, cognitive, and swallowing impairment due to illness, injury, or dementia. Lisa has joined our team to provide more comprehensive services for our patients in Mammoth and Bishop.

Kim Erickson, Jill Lydestrom and Merle Ganong are physical therapy aides who are always there to help our patients and assist our therapists in providing the highest quality care.  

Bishop Physical Therapy Clinic

Mammoth Hospital has experienced increased therapy demands from residents in the Owens Valley area. With higher gas prices and inconvenience of winter travel, Mammoth Hospital would like to keep Physical Therapy services closer to home for these patients. The Bishop SPORT Center Physical Therapy clinic is located at 699 West Line Street with convenient access for patients challenged with injuries or disabilities.

Chris Matteson, PT, OCS, ATC, CSCS a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist joined our staff in 2011 to be the main initial provider of Physical Therapy services in Bishop. Chris is a familiar face to many as he partnered with Pat Gardner at SMART Physical Therapy and practiced there for six years. Chris grew up in Lone Pine, California and most recently was practicing physical therapy at Southern Inyo Hospital. Chris has helped on the coaching staff at Bishop High School for seven years and is a certified athletic trainer and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. His love for coaching was one of the motivators to return to practicing in Bishop.  

Sheri Pueblo, PT, MS, received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Pacific in 1991 and has over 20 years of primary orthopedic experience. Sheri received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology. Sheri has traveled eight seasons with the U.S. Women’s Alpine Ski Team as a team physical therapist. Sheri also has comprehensive training in Pilates and incorporates her Pilates background in treatment for women’s health and incontinence patients.

Julie Perumal, DPT, graduated with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University. She has special interests in neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation and uses her skills for assessment and re-education of muscle balance. She is an avid climber and wilderness enthusiast, and enjoys helping others return to their optimal performance for recreation, competition, or simply for life’s enjoyment.

Jennifer Myers, PT, DPT, received her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from University of the Pacific after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from UC San Diego. Jennifer grew up in Mammoth Lakes and her roots in the Eastern Sierra give her passion for creating the best medical care for our local population. She enjoys helping patients achieve their best function, and she has experienced injury rehabilitation from a patient and provider perspective. She enjoys sports of all kinds and has been a Junior Olympian cross country skier and an All-American collegiate rower.

Kevin Thomas, P.T.A., has over 20 years of experience as a licensed physical therapy assistant.  He grew up in Mammoth Lakes and has certification as a ski instructor,experience as a ski racer and a race coach.  Kevin is an avid cyclist and has specific training in bike fitting to optimize performance and minimize potential musculoskeletal strain.
